Descrizione
The Moses Fountain is located in Piazza III Novembre in Arco. It closes the western side of the square. The fountain is in baroque style.
It’s carved in oolite, stone dug out of the Vastrè bump area a few minutes from Arco. The limestone is particularly suitable to be worked to produce statues, to embellish the tops of the columns, to create altars or capitals.
With this stone were carved statues that adorn the Taro Bridge in Parma, the fountain of Piazza Duomo in Trento, the statues of Prato della Valle in Padua, some statues in the Collegiate Church in Arco and the statue of Moses of Arco.
The fountain of Moses dates back to the seventeenth century and depicts Moses with the coat of arms of the Conti d’Arco in the center. From this fountain flows drinking water. In the same square is the collegiate church of Santa Maria Assunta, Palazzo Nuovo or Giuliani Marcabruni.
